Vandaag maar even Wellington verkennen nu we er toch zijn.
Het hotel “Wellesley Boutique Hotel” biedt geen ontbijt aan maar omdat het een pand is in het zakelijke district en ook de Wellesley Club huisvest zitten er op de begane grond 2 koffie/eet gelegenheden in het pand. We kijken eerst even bij “Cornercopia Cafe” maar die bieden vooral zoetigheid en koffie dus op naar “Earl’s Sandwich & Coffee Bar” waar Sieg naast de cappuccino nog een appel/kaneel muffin scoort en Dré een Bacon & Chip Buttie met rocketfuel sauce. Wat een lekker broodje was dat, helaas zijn deze zaakjes in het weekend gesloten.
Na het ontbijt nog wat zaakjes voor overmorgen geboekt maar dat horen/zien jullie morgen wel voorbij komen.
Nu allereerst op naar de “Wellington Cable Car” die op loopafstand van ons hotel vertrekt naar een schitterend uitzicht punt in de bergen waar tevens het Cable Car museum is gevestigd en ook de botanische tuinen. Het is altijd weer leuk om met dit soort wagentjes de berg op te gaan. Het systeem kent een rijke historie en bestaat al sinds de begin jaren 1900.
Na het Cable Car museum te hebben bezocht lunchen we wat met mooi uitzicht over de stad en met goed gezelschap van een familie musjes.
Na de lunch een kleine wandeling door de botanische tuin (is nogal veel hoogte verschil helaas) waarna we weer afdalen met de Cable Car. We schieten nog een paar kiekjes in de stad en gaan terug naar onze hotelkamer.
De leuke eettentjes zitten wat verder de stad in en we hebben een leuke gevonden “El Matador“. Een restaurant met traditionele Argentijnse gerechten… We bestellen een Uber die ons netjes ophaalt en voor de deur afzet. Gelukkig is er nog een plekje want het is behoorlijk druk in het restaurant. Wat hebben we heerlijk gegeten. Allebei een steak met bravas aardappeltjes, cocktailtje erbij en nog churros na. Yummie!
